Engineer 2: Target vehicle on scope.
Blofeld: Brief check on target vehicle. Remove his suit and search him.
Intercom: Reserve astronaut ready on Bird 1.
The reserve astronaut is loaded into the capsule. In the control room, James is stripped of his astronaut suit and searched.
Blofeld: Prepare for firing.
Intercom: Prepare for firing. Clear the area. Clear the area. Emergency services to stand by. Area now clear.
The man searching James finds his cigarette case, but doesn’t see anything amiss.
Intercom: T minus one minute, 30 seconds and counting. Re-coordinate with target vehicle. Bird 1 now in readiness.
Engineer 1: Astronauts ready on Bird. All systems are go.
Blofeld: Close shutters.
Engineer 1: Close shutters.
Intercom: Radar blackout commence.
Engineer 1: Radar blackout in operation. Effective range, kilometers 800.
Intercom: Open crater.
Engineer 2: Opening crater.
Intercom: Crater opening. Bird 1 to liftoff position. Gimbal the engines. Pressurized tanks open. Ventilater fans to full power. 10 seconds. 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0. Ignition.
The rocket takes off.
Intercom: Close crater.
Engineer 2: Closing crater.
Intercom: Open shutters.
Scene: on top of the volcano
Tanaka and Kissy scramble up to the top in the darkness in time to see the rocket fly off. At Tanaka’s signal, hundreds of ninjas appear.
Scene: in space
The SPECTRE rocket separates from it’s engine boosters.
Astronaut: Bird 1 to base. Separation complete. Confirm acquisition.
Engineer 1: Calling Bird 1. You are 70 nautical miles downrange. 200 miles altitude.
Scene: back in the control room
Blofeld: Hans, our job will soon be done. Blow them up as soon as they have captured the Americans. Here is the key to operate the exploder button.
Security Guard: There are men in the crater!
We see Tanaka’s men on security monitors.
Blofeld: Crater guns, fire.
Intercom: Crater guns, open fire.
Scene: on top of the volcano
Machine guns open fire on the ninjas. Tanaka and Kissy have made it to the lake edge.
Scene: control room again
Blofeld: The firing power inside my crater is enough to annihilate a small army. You can watch it all on TV. It’s the last programme you’re likely to see.
James: Well, if I’m going to be forced to watch television, may I smoke?
Blofeld: Yes, give him his cigarettes. It won’t be the nicotine that kills you, Mr. Bond.
A henchmen gives Bond his cigarettes and lights one for him. He aims it at the lake operator. It explodes and the guy falls to the floor. Bond decks the two guys near him and rushes to the controls. He hits the switch to open the lake.
Intercom: Armed guards to control room.
James fights off several men, but stops when confronted by a pistol.
Blofeld: Close the crater.
Engineer 4: Close crater!
Blofeld: I shall look forward personally to exterminating you, Mr. Bond.
