Roald Dahl died on November 23, 1990. He was buried in the graveyard of the church of SS Peter and Paul, Great Missenden. One of the readings at the funeral was from Dahl’s favorite poet, Dylan Thomas:
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
