1933 – Dahl at Repton Public School, aged seventeen, from the Priory House photograph album. Though he seems happy, in Boy – Tales of Childhood he writes about beatings and abuse from both the headmasters and the house prefects as well. He was not an exceptional student, but he did enjoy success on some of Repton’s athletic teams.
